We’re in The Guardian on flexibility and our practice without the billable hour.
Two years ago we started the first UK law firm to not record any time or base fees on time. We were so sure it was the end of the billable hour and remember rushing to be the first with a strong sense that others (known firms) may beat us to it. We feared that what was novel would soon be old news and we would disappear amongst the headlines that large law firms had abolished the billable hour.
We were wrong and so far, we remain alone in the UK.
What we did was perfect for us and we cannot imagine or remember how to record time and discuss how long something is going to take us.
Is the billable hour the past or the future?
